ROYAL CAMBRIDGE: KINGS AND QUEENS’
King’s College Chapel is the most famous building in Cambridge and is renowned world-wide for its beauty and its choir. The college was founded by King Henry VI in 1441. The Chapel took one hundred years to build. Queens’ College was founded by Henry’s young queen, Margaret of Anjou, in 1448.
Only Cambridge Green Badge guides are allowed to take tour groups inside Chapel. If you would like to visit the Chapel as part of a tour you can book online or email us at chris@cambridgetourguides.co.uk. Online booking should only be available when the Chapel is open, but we can double check the date and let you know how to buy King’s tickets online. For details on how to visit King’s and all ticket prices please visit the college website at www.kings.cam.ac.uk
Please note that from May to September inclusive the maximum group size permitted by King’s College Chapel goes down to 15 (plus the guide). For the rest of the year the maximum group size is 20.
To complete the royal theme the tour will take in the magnificent gatehouses of Trinity College (founded by Henry VIII) and St John’s College (founded by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII and Grandmother of Henry VIII). You will also see famous Cambridge sights such as the historic Eagle Pub, the old Cavendish Laboratory and the 11th century church of St Bene’t’s.
